A place for general welding-related discussions that don’t fit neatly in the egories below. Well, I found a small roll of .035, 70K tensile wire. With all joints beveled, the mig set on the highest heat range (5E, Lincoln 230V), I was able to get the weld really hot

The consumable welding supply of the wire acts as a filler material to help join the two metal objects. This process is also known as GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding). The process starts when Marlin Steel’s engineering team programs a MIG welding robot to perform the weld and places the workpiece inside.
I really like the way the 309 rod performs on mild and stainless.. THe local welding supply house said it''s a "problem" to use 309 on ss to ss welds, but could not say why or give me any good reason besides teh coloration of the beads.. Are there any pros or cons to

2020/5/6· What is welding? Welding means metal joining process. Different egories of welding options are available; Such as MIG, Stick and TIG. As a welder, you need to know all the welding process. These have some similarities as well as some difference. Their
Your wire feed speed also plays a huge role in welding stainless steel with normal MIG wire. If you’re welding mild steel, it’s more comfortable to manage as you’d use a lower wire feed speed. But for much thicker stainless steel, a faster wire feed speed is required to create a larger welding pool.
2012/1/26· For welding sheet metal or other thin steel solid MIG wire works really well. Like the OP said though it is very hard to control being so thin. The mild steel TIG rods that I have are ER70S2 where as the solid MIG wire I got is ER70S6, I think that designates a higher silicon content, but it does work on thin steel very well if you can hold on to the thin wire.
The two main ingredients of a welding rod would be iron (Fe) and cellulose (C6H10O5), which is a carbohydrate. Iron is strong, hard, magnetic, silvery-grey metal, the chemical element of atomic nuer 26, a transition element widely distributed as ores. Cellulose is an insoluble substance that is the main constituent of plant cell walls and of vegetable fibers such as cotton.
What do you (railroad welder) use for electric welding, rod, preheat and postheat procedures? Tom Koehler Responds: I use a Hardalloy 118 rod in 1/4" diameter at about 300 amps for welding on manganese alloy frogs, with a fine water mist after peening the

Q: I usually use 4043 filler wire for welding 6061-T6 and castings. My friend told me I should switch to 4047 because it’s stronger. Is that true? It’s more expensive than 4043. Is it worth it? A: As you know, 4043 and 5356 are the most common aluminum filler alloys.
