In this paper, the corrosion fatigue properties of AZ31B magnesium alloy before and after SMAT process are investigated. Hydrogen evolution tests and potentiodynamic polarization tests are carried out to obtain the corrosion resistance, and it is found that SMAT promotes corrosion rate.

Abstract The anisotropic plastic responses of commercial magnesium alloy AZ31B sheets in the stress-relieved and soft-annealed conditions are found to be similar. Measurements of the r-value (r = d w /d t) for tensile samples oriented 0, 45, and 90 from the rolling direction highlight a strong in-plane anisotropy, with r(0 ) 1 and r(90 ) 3.5.

2017/9/1· Wear resistance of as-cast AZ31B magnesium alloy was tested using pin-on disc method with heat-treated high-carbon steel discs as counterface on dry-sliding conditions. Wear tests at a fixed sliding distance of 2500 m were performed in sliding velocities of 0.25, 0.5, 1 and 2 m/s, loads of 10, 20, 40 and 80 N. Microstructural examinations of worn surfaces of pins were characterized using SEM/EDS.
